Groups and Clubs

Learn about committees and activities in our community! If you are interested in starting a club or group, or joining an existing committee, please contact the board of directors or the Manager. If you'd simply like to join a group or club, contact the organizer for more information.

The Board of Directors. Stockholders in good standing may run for the Board of Directors. Elections are held in February. The two candidates with the most votes will serve for two years, and board members may run again in consecutive years up to six years in a row. Contact the Manager or a current board member for more information about throwing your hat in the ring!

Capital Improvement Committee. The CIC is a group of board appointed residents that volunteer their time and efforts to scope out major renovations and improvements to the building and grounds.  The committee provides budgetary and planning advice to the BOD.

Book Club. Readers at The Hillcrest come together once a month in the Sky Room to discuss the book of the month. The group is facilitated by Marva Eberhart and is open to all residents of The Hillcrest. The schedule is posted in the Sky Room reservations.

Garden Committee. We're looking for hands-on volunteers who are willing to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty in an ongoing effort to make our outdoor common areas shine. The majority of this work takes place during the spring and summer months. Contact Jerry Martin or Cheryl Cordry for more information.

Vespers. Once a week, the women of The Hillcrest are invited to a social gathering on Wednesdays in the Sky Room @ 5 p.m for an hour of conversation, snacks, and catching up among friends. Bring your own beverage and a snack to share--or just show up.

Stitch Bewitched. Stitchers (you know who you are) gather monthly  to work on projects and encourage each other in the needle arts. They meet the third Wednesday of the month @ 6:30 p.m. in the Sky Room.

Lyceum @ The Hillcrest. Residents can attend occasional musical soirées and other cultural events at The Hillcrest organized by Mike Witherspoon.  Events will be announced on the Website.

The Hillcrest Historical Society. This society will exist to preserve and promote this historical building and its relationship to Wichita.

The Hillcrest Mens Club. The Mens Club is dedicated to strengthening connections among the men in our building's community through informal, monthly gatherings founed upon the principles of free speech, gentlemanly manner, dialectical maturity, the acceptance of each other as we are, and commitment to attend as able - all invigorated by the grand variety of BYOB protocols.
